Green Summer – 3 Easy Tips for a More Sustainable Lifestyle

This summer we’re cruising around on our new Basil Green Wheelström e-bikes! E-biking is a fun and environmentally friendly way to get around, and our new green bike is also a great way for us to highlight easy green lifestyle choices. There’s no need to lower your quality of life even if you make sustainable choices! Here are a few great tips for the summer:

1. Herbs, herbs, herbs!

Did you know that taking care of your herbs will lengthen their life? You should start by replanting them in your backyard or on your balcony, or create a small herb garden on your windowsill. Get tips on how to take care of your herbs from Järvikylä (in Finnish).

There are many creative ways you can use your herbs. You can for example create a delicious herb oil by adding olive oil and your herb of choice in a pretty glass bottle. Herbs also work as a cool gift if you place them in a decorative pot.

2. Borrow like a pro

Create a chat group dedicated only to borrowing stuff. You don’t always have a drill when you need one, or that crocodile costume for you next dress up party, and it’s really unnecessary to buy new stuff just to use it once. In a chat group everything you borrow will also be documented, and this way you’ll know who has got what when you need it back.

Speaking of borrowing, if you don’t have a library card yet, we recommend that you get one immediately! Libraries are wonderful and inspiring places, and you’ll often walk away with fresh and exciting reading.

3. Bring your bike along on a more sustainable holiday

If you’re in need of a longer holiday, you should definitely ditch travelling by air and go by train or boat instead! This way you can bring your e-bike along, and vary the way of travelling depending on the weather and your mood. Don’t focus too much on getting to your destination, enjoy instead the many interesting experiences along the way. Ride in unfamiliar settings, find new B&Bs and restaurants in remote villages and head for a spontaneous picnic by a picturesque lake.

Let’s make life greener together – hope you have a wonderful summer filled with fun biking trips!
